We are bound to give up who can eat that stuff for 30 days straight?The Juice DietWith this particular diet, you dont have anything other than water and this disgustingly sweet juice for 48 hours. Sure youll lose a few pounds of water when you first try it, but its obviously not a long-term diet plan. Diet Pills Diet Pills are supposed to work by suppressing your appetite and boosting your metabolism by using caffeine and similar stimulants. They dont work well long term for two reasons. You dont feel very well if youre jacked up on caffeine that much. I tend to get grumpy, impatient and jittery. Secondly, their effects tend to wear off over time. Your body just gets used to all the extra stimulants and you loose the intended benefits and are simply stuck with a caffeine addition. Low Carb DietAny diet that cuts out most of a major food group will be hard to stick with. Low carb diets were all the craze a few years ago, but are slowly starting to fade out. The reason is simple. In the long run, we dont want to give up bread, pasta and rice. You already know that these quick fix diets dont work. Youve probably made the New Years resolution to lose weight a few times and given up sooner or later. Make this year different. How? By using a more common sense approach to dieting. Eat healthy, make small changes to consume fewer calories and get more active. Slow and steady changes in what you eat and what you do will get you there. You will still be sticking to your resolution in February, March, and all the way into December.

Copyright 2006 Mike RamseyDoes any of the following sound familiar?You desperately want to lose weight, but youve tried so many different diets and failed over the years that youve grown discouraged.Lets face it, most diets arent easy to maintain -- theyre designed to get weight off not for your personal convenience. And once you go off the diet, the weight comes right back, along with a bit more. Thus, you end up worse off than before.No matter what diet you try from the cabbage soup diet to the Master Cleanser to low-fat diets such as the Atkins Diet one of two things usually happens: You lose some weight along with your sanity as life becomes an unbearable drudge of boring food and not enough of it. You dont "lose weight" because you just cannot stick to that diet.In either case, you feel bad discouraged maybe even like a failure. But, take heart, losing weight is possible. In fact, here are five simple yet sound tips that when followed could easily enable you to lose five pounds, or more, a week!Tip #1 Cut the Carbs! Cutting down on your carbohydrate intake, particularly white carbs (that is, carbs from white bread, potatoes, etc.) and instead eating more high quality lean proteins (such as chicken and fish) is a great way to drop a few pounds quickly. But dont cut carbs completely! You should still eat fibrous carbs, such as berries, spinach and apples.Tip #2 Stop Eating Processed Foods! Instead eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Often, people who are used to eating a lot of junk food will discover they can actually a higher quantity of delicious fruits, vegetables and whole grains without gaining any weight.Tip #3 Cut Down on Your Sugar Intake! In particular, watch how many sodas or juice drinks you consume. The sugar in these beverages can add up quickly and these drinks aren't filling. You should also watch out for "fat-free" products. Sugar is often used to replace the flavor that is lost when the fat is removed. You will also want to be careful about how much sugar you add to coffee and tea.Tip #4 Drink More Water! Water naturally helps to suppress your appetite and drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day will help you lose weight and burn fat. On the other hand, if you don't drink enough water every day, your body may store water and fat that you don't need. To determine how much water you should drink: multiply your bodyweight by .66 to get the required number of ounces per day.Tip #5 Exercise More Often! The healthiest way to lose weight is to exercise. Someone who increases the amount they exercise, but maintains the same diet and calorie intake, will almost certainly lose weight. Plus, excessive sweating from cardio activity, such as running, walking and using aerobic gym equipment, will help you de-bloat and lose inches and pounds quickly.But a word of caution, if you havent exercised in a while be sure to check with your physician first and also be sure to start any exercise program slowly.

The e-mail comes out at noon. "To celebrate your hard work this week, there is cake and ice cream in the big kitchen at 3 today. Be there!"The universal reward for hard work always seems to be food: cake and ice cream, a catered lunch for in-service training sessions, pizza for the overtime crew, bagels and cream cheese to brighten up a bleak Monday morning.Food seems to be the perennial favorite for any kind of work reward because it is universally accepted. Some of us (we hard core dieters) may pass on the sweet stuff but usually find something allowable. In a world where two thirds of us are overweight or obese, is there nothing else available as a gift that cuts across all individual interests?Recently, we had a whole week at my company devoted to employee appreciation. The primary rewards were, of course, food but other things were added: a company baseball cap, a hiking water container, a lunch bag, and a handwritten note of thanks to every employee from their supervisor. The cap was a bust for those of us with any modicum of fashion sense; the insulated flask and bag were food related, and the handwritten notes were superfluous - good supervisors show their appreciation of hard work constantly while a handwritten note from a harsh supervisor, no matter the "thanks" stated, means diddly squat to a resentful employee.The HAS to be something else, doesn't there? We human beings have few things totally in common and eating is the primary universal. Other common bodily activities such as urination and defecation are not easily translatable into some kind of reward system. We are all involved in physical activity, to some degree, but that is often more a chore than a delight.When it comes to our other senses, we all differ so much that one person's pleasure is another person's pain: music, perfume, pictures, or massages are differential tastes rather than general givens.Money is almost always acceptable but the small amounts that would be individually generated to replace a free dessert or snack would be so minimal that their reward value would be insignificant.So what can those of us on a permanent diet, and alarmed about our coworkers' increased girth, suggest?How about plants? Small individual pots or a larger department shrub would save our waistlines while adding to the health and esthetics of our environment. I calculate, just within my call center, that if a plant had been given to each department, instead of an edible goodie, for celebrations over the past 5 years, that I would now be working in a lush rain forest of exotic plants where the stale re-processed air conditioned air would be purer, more humid, and a thousand times fresher. Morale booster and health benefits in one fell swoop!How about the gift of time? In our overly busy pressured lives, who would not be immensely grateful for a free hour here or there. Rotate it through each department, letting one or two people leave early on a Friday afternoon. That would means something and would carry no cost so upper management should be ecstatic.Instead of a handwritten note, how about getting Supervisors to perform their subordinates work duties for an hour or so, once in a while? Can you imagine the morale boost for an employee to get off the telephone, or the machine, or the computer, and shoot the breeze with friends for an hour while their duties are performed by their supervisors? And if mistakes are made - so much the better. It creates a sense of equality and inter-relationship between workers and supervisors that is generally lacking in a corporate environment.How about free "Get out of jail" cards for every line worker? Each person gets one free card and additional cards can be given by supervisors for outstanding work, ensuring that the better workers have more cards. The cards can then be used as excuses for small transgressions - coming in a little late, leaving early, making minor mistakes. With the use of the card, a worker avoids verbal coaching, warnings, or being put on report. And let employees use their cards for coworkers who may need them - think of the teambuilding that would accomplish!Flexibility of hours, assignments, and days, is another area where workers will universally respond: not to money, or food, but to accommodation of individual needs. Give each employee a wish card and then allow them to use it to get something they need.What does all of this accomplish? It allows for employee rewards without fats and carbohydrates. At any given time 50 million Americans are dieting. Some are medically driven diets but, the majority of this number are voluntarily tying to slim down. Even with this many people trying to lose weight, America continues to become more obese every year.Most of us will start a diet only to fail to stick to it and after losing a few pounds we will start to slowly put the pounds back on. Of those who begin a diet, only about 25% will reach their weight loss target. When it comes to dieting we are notoriously lacking on willpower.We all know that the best way to lose weight is to exercise but, after 20 years of the experts preaching it, has it helped? Well since we are more obese than ever, I would say the answer is no. It doesn't look as if the current plan is working very well, does it?There is hope though. A new herbal supplement called Hoodia Gordonii has been proven extremely effective as a diet aid. Hoodia Gordonii suppresses your desire to eat. It is, in effect, will power in a bottle. I know there will be a lot of skeptics, to them I say. After seeing the results from all the exercising over the last 20 years, I think everyone should at least try it.Hoodia Gordonii has not been shown to have any side effects. Hoodia works much the same as glucose sending a signal to the brain that you full. It takes a few days to feel the full effect, eventually you have to remind yourself to eat. Also since you are not hungry, it is much easier to eat healthy. You will find yourself eating to live, instead of living to eat. Now that is the key to long term "weight loss" .

Are Your Thoughts About Your Body Holding You Back From Success?

When someone joins my personal coaching program, one of the first things I ask them to do is to describe exactly what their body is going to look like once I help them reach their goal weight. I ask them to do this in writing not over the phone, and heres whyDeeply imbedded negative thoughts are what cause us to have difficulties in any weight loss or health enhancement program in fact, our past failures can almost always be traced back to negative thoughts that we didnt even realize we had.Most of our negative thinking comes out when we write things down on paper (or on the computer). I challenge you to write out 10 brief descriptions about how your body will look in 30 days if you were coached by someone like me someone who knows exactly how to transform the human body no matter what stage of the game youre currently at.Go ahead, take a moment and write out what your face would look like, what your arms would look like, what your legs and your butt would look like would your skin look different, would your muscles be tighter, would you be leaner detail everything, then come right back.Did you do it?Make your list now before reading any further I want you to walk away with some profound knowledge of yourself when youre done reading this article.OK, now that you have your list, let me show you something that you can use to judge whether or not youve been causing yourself to fail in your attempts to lose weight and keep it off.Here are some examples of statements that a good friend of mine used to have before he and I began working together statements that were literally holding him back from success:Facemore chiseled features, no double chin, no doughy jowls or puffy cheeks, no bags under the eyes.Other than improved facial shape, I really have no complaints at all about my face, hair, eyes, nose, ears.Neckno double chin or wattleChestno gynecomastia (womanly breasts), muscular instead. Look, ma, I can see my ribcage and pectoral muscles instead of a soft mattress of flab.Armshard sinewy curves instead of soft breadsticks. Seeing veins and muscles instead of smooth fat.Abdomenare there really abs hiding in there? Theyve never made an appearance in 50 years! Itd be nice to have a tight waist not uncomfortably sliced by too-tight underwear.Legsless of a conical shape, more elongated and solid. Although my calves have always been rather large and firmmy best body part, next to my brain.Buttocksless sag, more formBackcould be a lot less hairy, would be nice to see a V shape instead of a truncated pyramid.Can you see why he might have had a few troubles in the past reaching his goal?But Ill let you in on a little secret this guy is in great shape now and enjoying life more than ever, and hes a pleasure to speak with each week in our coaching calls.Now heres a list from a woman who recently completed one of my coaching programs this list was written out after our first session together watch how positive every statement is:WHAT MY BODY IS GOING TO LOOK LIKEmy face will be thinner, more definedmy posture will be great all of the timemy legs will be free of cellulite and extra fatmy butt will be sculpted and definedmy abs will be tight and definedmy arms will be cut and defined and strong and sexy!my chest will be lifted and shapelymy back will show definition and be sexy!I will feel the urge to walk around naked all the time! (around my house and my husband, of course)I will walk confidently knowing that I look great!I will compliment my awesome body with cool clothes that show it off I will wear a bikini from now on!!! No shorts over the bottom!I will wear those short shorts I have sitting in my closetmy skin will be clearI will be unbelievably beautiful and sexy!!!When making your list, make sure to avoid using any negatives, and have fun with this exercise the short time you take out of your day to make your list will save you tons of time and frustration in the near future.

Weight Loss Diary Day 4

This the third day of dieting in my weight loss program and it will be the last daily report in this series of articles to avoid you becoming bored with repetition. By now you will have the idea that I only give up one type of food each day and in general eat what I please - within reason. The caveat is that you must be aware of serving sizes because it is due to over-generous serving sizes that the majority of us are dieting. In future I will publish three articles each week rather than seven. Because I exercised yesterday I will not exercise today but will remain aware of things like parking as far from the supermarket entrance as possible and using stairs rather than escalators. - This now a part of my daily routine. Today started as normal by walking to the village to pick up my daily newspaper. This walk is now extended to approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) Breakfast is cornflakes with mixed dried fruits and nuts and milk and a banana and lime smoothie. (When I first wake up, before going to buy my newspaper, I drink a large glass of water. - This isn't compulsory but water has zero calories.) 10.30am I stop work to take a cup of lemon green tea. 11.30am feeling peckish and I eat a raw carrot. 1pm and its time for lunch. Lunch is a ham and salad sandwich on whole-grain bread, an apple, a banana and a glass of fruit juice. After lunch I walk for ten-minutes, just a casual walk to help digest the food. 6pm is dinnertime, I like to eat early. Today was Filet Mignon with French beans and asparagus. My wife had a couple of boiled potatoes with her meal while I left a space on my plate where they would have been. (This diet is really so easy to contend with because I can have potatoes tomorrow if I please.)Hopefully the people that have joined me on this "weight loss" program are starting to settle to the new routine by now and starting to become vigilant about serving sizes. I just want to repeat that during this period there is definitely no beer or drinks that fizz, even if they have sugar free or low calorie etc. printed on the label.
